Practical

WHEN?

Saturday the 1st of September 2012, from 12h00 until midnight.

Keep in mind: doors close at 23:00.

AGE

No minimum age: we welcome party animals of all ages, shapes and sizes! Attention: if you're yet not 14 years old, we will ask you to be accompanied by an adult to enter the festival.

ENTRANCE

Tickets will only be available at the entrance if Laundry Day is not sold out in advance.
Tickets will cost €35 at the entrance. For a presale ticket you'll pay €28 + €2 admin cost. So save money and buy your ticket in advance!
IN ANY CASE, DO NOT BUY ANY TICKETS IN THE STREET! If Laundry Day is not sold out yet, you will find ticket booths at the entrance, where you can buy official tickets.

Remember: IN = IN and OUT = OUT. If you leave the festival site, you'll have to buy a new ticket to get back in!

WHERE? NIEUW ZUID!

For a fourth time in a row, Laundry Day will take place on festival site Nieuw Zuid, in the south of Antwerp. The official address of the site is Ledeganckkaai, 2020 Antwerp. It's very easy to reach the festival site on foot, by bike, by car and by public transport.
ATTENTION! The Ledeganckkaai will be closed for traffic on September 1st, so you will not be able to reach the entrance by car!

Click here to plan your route.

Don't forget: if you want to make sure you'll get home absolutely safe... Use one of our party buses!

Take a look at the map below to orient yourself.

GOING ON FOOT?

From the centre of Antwerp walk southwards along the Scheldt quays and you will automatically arrive at the entrance of the festival site. Nieuw Zuid is located near the new building of the Bank van Breda, and just before club Petrol.

If you're arriving from Linkeroever (the left bank of the river Scheldt), you have two options. We suggest that you use the 'Sint-Anna Voetgangerstunnel' between the Frederik Van Eedenplein (Linkeroever) and Sint-Jansvliet (Rechteroever, the right bank of the Scheldt, where Laundry Day takes place) - its elevators and escalators have quite a large capacity for pedestrians and cyclists. Once at Rechteroever, the festival site is only a 10 minute walk away. The other option is the 'Fietstunnel', near the Kennedy Tunnel, between the Beatrijslaan (Linkeroever) and d'Herbouvillekaai (Rechteroever). Once above-ground you'll find the festival site just a stone's throw away to your left.

COMING BY BIKE?

Great idea, because Laundry Day and newspaper De Morgen provide a covered bike parking, ridiculously close to the festival site! The exact address of this bike parking is De Gerlachekaai, at Hangar 13B. With the help of a huge sign 'FIETSENPARKING', you definitely won't pass it without noticing. There is enough space for about 2000 bikes. The use of this covered bike parking is FREE. Attention: this is an unguarded bike parking. You might even win a fancy new 'Eddy Merckx' bike if you fill out the entry form at the bike parking, and hand it in at the booth of De Morgen on the festival site. Good luck!

ATTENTION! Putting away your bike properly is very important, as you may NOT attach your bike to the fence of the festival site - we have to be able to open the fences at all times in case of an emergency!

COMING BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Great idea! Right here you'll find all the different possibilities to reach Laundry Day by public transport.

Coming by train?

ATTENTION! Your Laundry Day ticket DOES NOT INCLUDE your train ticket. The NMBS (National Railway Company of Belgium) might control train tickets on September 1st, also on trains passing train station 'Antwerpen Zuid'. So make sure you buy a train ticket if you're coming to Laundry Day by train!

If you come by train, you can hop off at three different locations: train stations 'Antwerpen Zuid' (Antwerp South), 'Antwerpen Centraal' (Antwerp Central station) and 'Antwerpen Berchem' (Antwerp Berchem).

ANYONE TRAVELING FROM EAST OR WEST FLANDERS should get off at railway station 'Antwerpen Zuid': the NMBS (National Railway Company of Belgium) will provide an extra stop at 'Antwerpen Zuid' for ALL trains passing this railway station on September 1st! When you're leaving Laundry Day, you can use these extra stops at train station 'Antwerpen Zuid' as well. And, best of all... It's only a 15 minute walk from train station 'Antwerpen Zuid' to the entrance of Laundry Day... Which means you won't have to travel all the way to Antwerp Central station (which is a lot further from the festival grounds)!

!! The NMBS will provide one extra train to Ghent at 23:45 at train station 'Antwerpen Zuid', with extra stops at Beveren, Sint-Niklaas and Lokeren. ATTENTION! This train makes a final stop at train station 'Gent-Sint-Pieters'. At 'Gent-Sint-Pieters', there are no other transfers possible. This means that anyone traveling to West Flanders will have to use the train to Kortrijk at 23:13, with a transfer to Brugge-Oostende at train station 'Gent-Sint-Pieters'.

PARTY PEOPLE TRAVELING FROM ELSEWHERE will arrive at 'Antwerpen Centraal' or 'Antwerpen Berchem' - they should consider two options.

  • One option is Antwerp's bus and tram network: these will get you to Laundry Day in about 15 to 20 minutes. Check your connections down below.
  • The other option is to switch trains - hop on a train that is directed to East or West Flanders, and get off at train station 'Antwerpen Zuid'. All of these trains will make an extra stop at 'Antwerpen Zuid' on September 1st! Again, from here on it's only a 15 minute walk to Laundry Day. When you're leaving Laundry Day, you can use these extra stops as well to get your connection at railway stations 'Antwerpen Centraal' and 'Antwerpen Berchem'.

How to reach Laundry Day from these three different train stations?

  • From train station 'Antwerpen Berchem': bus 30 or tram 8 (until stop 'Nationale Bank' > from there on, hop on trams 12 and 24, buses 1, 13, 23, 290 or 500)
  • From train station 'Antwerpen Centraal': Trams 12 and 24, bus 23 (leave the station at the side of the 'Astridplein', the tram/bus stop is 200m away) / Buses 290 and 500 from the Rooseveltplaats (about 500m from the train station) / Buses 1 and 13 from 'Teniersplaats' (crossroads De Keyserlei/Leien, about 400m)
  • From train station 'Antwerpen Zuid': on foot about 1500m. The NMBS has indicated your route from Antwerpen Zuid to the entrance of the festival on a handy map - just have a look!

ATTENTION! Keep in mind that most of the train connections don't offer late departures! There will be no etxra night trains on September 1st. And bear in mind that in weekends, the trains operate according to another schedule than on weekdays! Check the website www.nmbs.be for the NMBS route planner, where you can check and print train schedules.

Right here you'll find an overview of the final train departures from train station Antwerpen Zuid with transfers to other parts of the country on Saturday September 1st:

KISS & RIDE

Parents who are dropping off or picking up their kids should use our Kiss & Ride area, which is located in the car park in Groothandelsmarkt (across METRO). It's only a 10-minute walk from Laundry Day. It is also located outside the one-kilometre radius around the festival site, where traffic will probably be congested. Moreover the car park is easy to access via Singel and the Antwerp Ring Road. We will also place a large tower here so that you can easily orient yourself.
ATTENTION! The Kiss & Ride area is strictly intended for dropping off and picking up festival attendees.

COMING BY CAR?

Park & Ride

Avoid the busy city centre and use one of the Park & Ride zones around Antwerp. You can park your car there for FREE and take public transport into the centre of the city.

Are you travelling from East or West Flanders?
Then go to:

  • P&R Melsele (Vendoorn 1, Melsele): take tram 3 direction Merksem until ‘Opera’. The tram takes about 20 minutes to get to 'Opera'.
  • P&R Blancefloerlaan (Antwerp-Linkeroever): you can take tram 3, 5 or 15 to 'Opera'. The tram takes about 10 minutes to get to your destination.
  • P&R Frederick Van Eedenplein (Antwerp-Linkeroever): from here too you can take tram 3, 5 or 15 to get to 'Opera'. The tram takes about 7 minutes to get you to your destination.

Are you travelling from the Campine or from Limburg?
Then use:

  • P&R Keizershoek (Bredabaan, Merksem): from here you have several options: trams 3 or 12 or buses 19, 23, 38 or 413 towards Antwerp/Zwijndrecht to ‘Opera’ or ‘Fr. Rooseveltplaats’. The tram or bus take approximately 15 minutes to get you to the centre of Antwerp.
  • P&R Metropolis (Groenendaallaan 394, Antwerp): you can use buses 23, 123 or 720-776 to ‘Fr. Rooseveltplaats’. The bus will take you to ‘Fr. Rooseveltplaats’ in 20 minutes.
  • P&R Ekersesteenweg (Rozemaai, Ekeren): you can choose from any line at this P&R, direction ‘Fr. Rooseveltplaats’. Eight different lines stop at this P&R and will take you to your destination in about 30 minutes.

Are you travelling from the south of the country (via the A12 or E19)?
Go to:

  • P&R Desguinlei (Antwerp): use tram 2 direction Linkeroever until ‘Opera’. The tram will take you to your destination in about 15 minutes.
  • P&R Schoonselhof (Krijgsbaan Hoboken): from here you have several options: trams 24 and buses 260, 291 or 295 to ‘Fr. Rooseveltplaats’. It will take you about 30 minutes to get to your destination. Once at ‘Opera’ or 'Fr. Rooseveltplaats', take tram 12, bus 1 or 13 and you are a mere 20 minutes away from the party.

Arriving by car at Laundry Day

ATTENTION! You won't be able to reach the entrance of the festival site by car: both the Ledeganckkaai and Generaal Armstrongweg will be closed for traffic!

Still the smartass? Then follow these directions:
You should aim for the new Law Courts of Antwerp. The festival site is just behind the Law Courts. Drive southbound along the Scheldt quays ('Scheldekaaien') or Singel or take the exit CENTRUM-ZUID on the Antwerp Ring Road. If you are traveling from Ghent, then take the exit CENTRUM-ZUID (this is the first exit to your right after the Kennedy Tunnel).
ATTENTION! Stay to the right of the new Law Courts, do not drive into the tunnel under the Law Courts, as you will probably get stuck in a traffic jam!
If you are traveling from Brussels, then take the Antwerp Ring Road and follow directions ANTWERPEN-CENTRUM. If you are coming via the A12, then just continue straight on and follow the directions ANTWERPEN-CENTRUM.

We recommend that you use one of the car parks nearby to avoid traffic jams in the centre of the city, but still close to the festival site:

  • Car park in Desguinlei, at buildings of PIVA (GPS: Desguinlei 244, 2018 Antwerpen)
  • Car parks on the left bank (Linkeroever) from where you can easily reach the festival site through the pedestrian tunnel or the bike tunnel (GPS: Blancefloerlaan 22, 2050 Antwerpen)
  • Car parks on the Scheldt quays in the north of Antwerp (GPS: Sint-Michielskaai, Plantinkaai, Ernest Van Dijckkaai, Orteliuskaai)

You can easily reach the festival site on foot from all these car parks in just a few minutes. If you're from Antwerp or surroundings, the best idea is to come on foot, by bike, public transport, or a combination of all three. We have a dedicated bike parking - just have a look at the info above.

PRACTICAL INFO FOR WHEELCHAIR USERS: WHEELS ARE WELCOME!

The Laundry Day festival site is completely flat, meaning: either grass or pavement (asphalt, concrete or gravel) and is fully accessible to wheelchair users. You may have to push a little harder on the gravel though... There is a wooden floor in front of most of the stages, which means you need to negotiate a 5 cm ledge, but with a little help from your friends…!

We have not provided specific areas for wheelchair users in front of the stages but this should not be a problem. You do not to fit your wheelchair with Monster Truck tires because Laundry Day festival-goers are not only renowned for their party skills but also for their courtesy.

You can easily reach all areas, zones and stages on the site using the paved paths which criss-cross the site.
The six toilet zones at Laundry Day have all been equipped with a toilet for wheelchair users which you can use for free all day if you buy a wristlet to use the facilities. The toilet area at the BLESS THE BLING BLING STAGE does not have a revolving door, which allows you to ride your wheelchair next to the toilet.

EXCEPTIONS REGARDING HEALTH AND MEDICATION ON THE FESTIVAL SITE

Festival goers who - because of medical reasons - have to carry medication and/or very specific nutrition (such as gluten-free products) to Laundry Day, do not have to worry. We only ask you to bring a doctor’s certificate (not just a note from your parents) which clearly states that you need that certain medication an/or nutrition. In this way our security staff can easily check if it concerns an exception, and if so, they will let you enter without any problems.

ATTENTION: on the day itself we kindly ask you to enter the festival site through the VIP-tent at the right side of the entrance (you do not have to carry a VIP-ticket in this particular case). In this way we can check your doctor’s certificate and medication and/or nutrition quietly, and we won’t be holding up other visitors.

LOST & FOUND

After the festival we will return all lost & found items to the Antwerp Police department. You can check with them for your lost item at the Oudaan 5, 2000 Antwerp on working days between 8u and 16u. Please register on the second floor at the reception of 'afdeling West'. You can reach them by telephone as well at 0032 3 338 57 11.
