FAQ

What does FAQ mean?

We kid you not, it IS a question we have been asked. FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. In other words: those are the questions we can't hear, see or smell any longer during the weeks before Laundry Day. So if you have any questions regarding ticket prices, minimum age or walking distances, check this web page before contacting us. Less the trouble for you, and you're saving us a strip of paracetamol. Thanks!

What's the minimum age for coming to Laundry Day?

Devotion to a great party atmosphere is much more important than age! That means everybody's welcome. Attention: if you're under 14 (the year in which you turn 14 counts), you'll need to bring someone aged 18+ to accompany you.

Everybody (meaning everything between newborns and supercentenarians on this planet) pays for a ticket at Laundry Day. People over 100 might get a reduction.

Please note that we discourage bringing young children to Laundry Day, because some areas can be quite noisy. As a matter of fact, prams and dogs are not allowed on the festival site. We wouldn't want any crowdsurfing babies.

What are the opening hours of Laundry Day?

Everybody welcome between 12h and midnight!

What about alcohol policy at Laundry Day?

LAWndry Day keeps it clean... also with alcohol.

If the law applies to Average Joe, then also at Laundry Day. And our law states that we can't serve beer to people under 16, and no spirits to people under 18. More than ever, safety is a central issue at festivals, and Laundry Day would like to keep it that way. It's not about bullying minors - we simply love a safe festival, we know you love it too & we fully trust that you get our drift.

Of course this still means that everybody's welcome at Laundry Day! Sodas, water, orange juice and Red Bull are available for everyone.

Is there anything I CANNOT take to Laundry Day?

Yes, there is: aerosol cans, glass, drugs, bazookas and affiliated stuff, sharp items, umbrellas, music players and speakers, flags, sticks and raincoats (because the sun will be shining anyway).

Furthermore only Homo sapiens. That means NO dogs, cats, boa constrictors or pubic lice. Party animals admitted. Why? We're Laundry Day, we like it clean and so do you.

What should I do with my backpack?

What should I do with my backpack? Tip from Laundry Day Addicts: be an early bird, because these safelockers WILL BE OCCUPIED quite soon. Full = full

How far is it from Antwerp's train station to Laundry Day?

That depends. You can hop off at three locations: 'Antwerpen Zuid' (Antwerp South), 'Antwerpen Centraal' (Antwerp Central station) and 'Antwerpen Berchem' (Antwerp Berchem).
Anyone traveling from East Flanders or West Flanders should get off at 'Antwerpen Zuid' - it's a 15 minute walk to the gates of Laundry Day! The map on our PRACTICAL page instantly shows you how ridiculously close you'll be able to get off.
Party people traveling from elsewhere will arrive at 'Antwerpen Centraal' or 'Antwerpen Berchem' - they should consider two options. One option is Antwerp's bus and tram network. For the buses and trams that get you to the festival site, check our PRACTICAL page. These will get you to Laundry Day in about 15 to 20 minutes. The other option is to switch trains - hop on a train with direction Ghent ('Gent'), and get off at station 'Antwerpen Zuid'. Again, from here on it's only a 15 minute walk to Laundry Day.

Are there any night trains available?

No, there aren't. But New York is not the only city that never sleeps - Antwerp is pretty vibrant on a Saturday night. You won't be bored in a million years, and you'll probably produce some kick-ass stories to tell your friends afterwards.

Can I hand out flyers at Laundry Day?

No, you can't. We do produce a booklet in which you can place an ad. Please contact [email protected] for more info.

Once I pay and get in, can I still get out?

Of course you can, but you'll have to pay again if you would want to go back in.

Can I bring my own drinks?

No, you can't. And we'll have an army of people ready to check your provisions at the entrance.

Where can I get dropped off or picked up by my parents?

First and foremost: claim your independence and get to Laundry Day on your own! Plenty of possibilities: bike, train, bus, tram, skateboard, segway of simply on foot: anything is better than your parents driving you, don't you think? For those who do need a personal driver: we have a Kiss & Ride area, which is about a ten-minute walk from the festival site. Traffic close to the site will be jammed anyway, so this Kiss & Ride will come in quite useful if you want to spare your driver from traffic headaches. More info on our Kiss & Ride area at our PRACTICAL page.

Is there a Lost & Found department?

It’s amazing what gets left behind after 12 hours of doing laundry. Wallets, cell phones, backpacks, keys, kitchen appliances, senior citizens - we discover just about anything when sweeping festival grounds, and we’d like to see all these precious items returned to their owners. If you lost anything of personal value, you can try your luck at the Antwerp local police department, Oudaan 5, 2000 Antwerp. Ask - with crossed fingers - for the department “Klachten & Aangiften” (Complaints & Returns).

Where did Laundry Day find those tons of circus entertainment?

With our friends from Cirq'ulation Locale - this organisation brings “crossover” circus shows, which tour all over Europe throughout the year, and make a stop at Laundry Day's circus kingdom on Saturday September 3rd!
