Nid & Sancy Live !
Nid & Sancy's debut album "Talk To The Machine" was released in 2005 and set the Belgian evil twin couple Bart Demey and Tania Gallagher in gear to become a prominent live act in both dance and rock clubs and festivals alike. The albums and subsequent singles "Sleaze Boogie" , "Be Yourself Tonight" and "No Fuck All" were released to great critical acclaim and established Nid & Sancys name quickly.
Hailing from a predominantly DIY punk background Nid & Sancy infused their electronic beats with guitars often described their music as being " crashed on the edge between dance & rock".
At the same time they also advocated their love for analog synths. In an early interview they said " People who say machines have no soul are wankers ". It also directly related to the title of their debut album.
With a range of influences going from The Carpenters over Giorgio Moroder to The Dead kennedys, PIL and Daft Punk, its clear that Nid & Sancy have created themselves a unique voice.
With over 200 shows in just over 2 years the duo travelled around Europe and shared the stage with the likes of Scissor Sisters, Soulwax, Vitalic , Erol Alkan, Peaches, T Raumschmiere, Pere Ubu, Bauhaus and many more.
In 2006 Nid & Sancy played their first American dates in Los Angeles and New York quickly followed by a short stint in Asia.
In 2007 the couple released their second album " Color At The Darkest Disco ". More electronic then its predecessor CATDD was influenced a great deal by early electronics, vocoders and disco strings.
In a VPRO interview in March 2007 they stated "We been influenced by the long drives at night and smoke machines and strobelights in clubs. Strobelights are the disco strings of light ".
The second album reached the Belgian ultratop and was in the Top 5 in the iTunes store for a number of weeks. Nid & Sancy set out playing a range of clubs and festivals and went back to Asia for 2 tours.
Fast forward to today.... With a new album in the works, set for release in February 2009 , Nid & Sancy are ready as ever.
Their latest 12" release " Kidzz" has gained significant attention and has been doing the round on Blogs such as Bigstereo, Music Walrus and many others.
Whats more, HBO licensed it for a forthcoming television series and the duo recieved an invitation to play at the SWSX festival in Austin Texas in March 2009.
